FOCUS!

Whatever stage of life you're in and regardless of whether you're a student, working, or a retiree, there are times when we all need a little help with getting motivated, staying on track, and staying focused. I know that these days I need more support than ever. Thankfully, we have safe and natural solutions.

Many essential oils can be used to improve attention and increase clarity. doTERRA's Thinker and InTune® roller bottle blends help improve focus and increase retention of information. Diffusing essential oils during study time is a great way to help achieve and maintain optimal focus. I like to diffuse Peppermint and Rosemary when I’m working and to support memory. Peppermint and Basil is also a good choice. A favorite in our home for centering/grounding is Balance, doTERRA’s Grounding Blend. We’re more grounded, more centered and therefore we are able to perform our jobs and tasks more effectively. Vetiver is another good choice.

When you need a little get up and go, a little push, essential oils can help. doTERRA's Cheer, doTERRA's Motivate are great choices for motivational support as well as other Citrus Oils and Mint Oils. Remember, the benefits of essential oils are determined by the oil’s chemical makeup. Basically, citrus oils are known to be uplifting, florals calming, mints energizing, tree, herb and grass oils grounding.

Here are few other suggestions to help us improve our focus and concentration:

  1. First, we have to pay attention.  I know I sometimes find myself looking straight at someone, hearing them speak and have no clue as to what they just said.  My mind has wandered.  I’m thinking of something entirely different.  We cannot absorb information unless we are paying attention. We cannot memorize information unless we are taking it in and absorbing it.
  2. Avoid distractions.  Multi-tasking is over rated.
  3. Involve as many senses as possible.  For example, if you are sitting in a lecture, you will remember more of what is being said if you listen and write down a few notes. If you are reading a book or an article, you will remember more of what is written if you read it aloud to yourself.  Read it – write it -say it.    This is a big help to me.
  4. Exercise your mind. Mental challenges can help to create new wire connections in the brain, which makes it more effective.    Develop a new hobby, read a novel, learn a foreign language, play word games, brain teasers, and puzzles.  I especially enjoy word games, crafts and jigsaw puzzles.  Make Learning Fun!

Which of these essential oils and suggestions resonate with you? My favorites oils are Peppermint and Rosemary in my diffuser, Balance on the bottom of my feet, and Thinker rolled on my wrists and back of my neck!
